Australian Food

This week at the Mascone centre in San Francisco, Australian food companies presented their latest products at the Fancy Foods Expo West. The Australian pavilion was organised by Austrade (the Australian Trade Commission) and featured a “highway theme” with each company having their own road sign similar to those in the Australian outback. Apart from national presence of Austrade, the state governments of New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia featured prominently with exhibitors.
During the show literally thousands of attendees experienced the unique flavours of Australia. I joined
Vic Cherikoff who launched his new retail range of sauces, infused oils and spice blends all featuring native Australian herbs and spices. Also during the fancy foods show, Vic also launched his Smokeboards and BBQ mats products.
Some of the other Australian food companies at Fancy Foods included Byron Bay Cookies, Australian Culinary Foods, Maggie Beer products, Tamborine Mountain Distillery, Ollo Olive Oils, Arrowfield Estate Wines, Massel , Valley Produce Company, Nicholson Fine Foods, Hickory’s Run infused olive oils, Mac Nut Oils, Valley Produce Company, G’Day Gourmet Tuna from Port Lincoln, Yellingbo Gold Olive Oil and Australian Macadamias to name a few.
Overall Fancy Foods provided us with a great deal of new distributors, national gourmet chains and a raft of independent gourmet stores who will start to stock the Vic Cherikoff retail range.
Big thanks to Lucy Coward, Mark Berwick, Linda Tom, Beth Goslin, Peter Brennan and Angela Lowery from Austrade for organizing the event, as well as David McGeachie and Paul Judge from NSW Department of State and Regional Development for providing support to NSW businesses.
