The Tsnuami relief effort in January 2005 was the catalyst for Food Network celebrity chef Cat Cora to establish the not for profit organization, Chefs for Humanity. Chefs for Humanity is coalition of chefs, world-famous culinary professionals and celebrity chef guided by a mission to quickly be able to raise funds and provide resources for important emergency, education, and hunger-related initiatives throughout the world.

Since its inception, just over twelve months ago, Chefs for Humanity has instilled faith in thousands and is committed to providing the same support to countless in the future. During 2005 the majority of projects that Chefs for Humanity have been involved with revolve around include Hurricane Katrina and providing relief to residents in effected areas.

Since founding Chefs for Humanity, Cat Cora has been appointed spokesperson on nutrition for UNICEF.

President Cat Cora is proud that Chefs for Humanity is organized for success with a business team that includes significant senior managerial experience and focus. She is proud to have her peers join her as a council of chefs and culinary professionals committed to bringing hope to areas that need it desperately. Cat recently said, “Our goal is not just to help with the short term disasters but also to partner and plan efficiently for longer term resolutions to human needs that we want to help tackle. We have organized ourselves to be able to do this well.”

The Chefs for Humanity Chefs Council is made up of world-famous culinary professionals including;

Cat Cora – President and Founder as well as The first female Iron Chef on Food Network’s Iron Chef America
Charlie Ayers – Former executive chef to Google and the Grateful Dead, now opening restaurant Calafia.
Ming Tsai – host of Simply Ming and Cooking Under Fire on PBS.
Bobby Flay – celebrity chef and host of Food Network’s Hot Off the Grill with Bobby Flay and Boy Meets Grill
Art Smith – Oprah Winfrey’s personal chef.
Gale Gand – Who hosts Food Network’s Sweet Dreams, in addition to co-owning and managing TRU 
Elizabeth Falkner – Executive pastry chef of the Citizen Cake patisserie restaurant bar in San Francisco.
Norman Van Aken – The owner of NORMAN’S in Miami, Orlando and Los Angeles.
Rick Bayless – Owner of Frontera Grill and Topolobampa in Chicago and host of PBS’ Mexico One Plate at a Time.
Marcus Samuelsson – Chef and Co-owner of Aquavit and Ringo.
Joanne Boundy – Owns and operates one of the hottest Dallas restaurants Cuidad.
George Geary – TV personality, international culinary tour guide and successful cookbook author.
