Recently in New York, Vic Cherikoff and I stopped in at the leading New York City radio station WOR 710am for an interview with Food Talk host, Michael Colameco.
During the interview we talked about the interesting trend of Australian foods and wines and their progress into North America. Some of the ingredients we spoke about included wattleseed, lemon myrtle and paperbark smoke oil. Michael was so surprised at the uniqueness of the Australian flavours and commented that Vic’s range was “like a spice rack that’s been hidden from the world forever”.
Michael Colameco is well known for Food Talk which airs on WOR weekdays from 11am till midday and from 10am to midday on weekends at. Apart from Food Talk on WOR, Michael also hosts and produces the cooking show, Colameco’s Food Show which airs on Public television Channels 13WNET, NJN and CPTV2.
Prior to the interview in the green room, I met one of New York’s best pastry chefs,
Kate Zuckerman from the Chanterelle Restaurant in Tribeca. Kate was on Food Talk answering pastry questions as well as promoting her new pastry cookbook titled, The Sweet Life: Desserts from Chanterelle – check it out !
In 2005, Kate was named one of the ten best pastry chefs in America by Pastry Art & Design and Chocolatier magazines. Zuckerman’s desserts, which were described by The New York Times as a “life-changing experience,” have earned her extravagant praise from every major critic in the New York area.
