According to the Google Blog this week, Google is now searching internationally for two “quick and creative chefs” who can develop menus ranging from vegan entrees to organic wood-fired pizzas for their Mountain View headquarters in California.
Since appointing Charlie Ayers as Executive chef over five years ago the kitchen at Google has had a very high reputation providing quality meals at breakfast, lunch and dinner for 2300 Google employees. Earlier this year Charlie Ayers departed Google, apparently with plans to open a chain of healthy food restaurants in Silicon Valley.
So now Google is carrying out a search of their own, looking for two executive chefs who know how to cook with fresh and organic ingredients. The selection process will be a little different with the top candidates initially preparing meals for 30 Google employees. Then the four finalists will compete in a cook-off, with the two best being hired.
On the Google blog there is a current menu for what’s being served in the cafes at Google. The menu is interesting, but I couldn’t see any native Australian flavours on the menu? Maybe one of the new chefs can experiment with some Australian ingredients.
