The Nestlé Golden Chef’s Hat Award, the only annual culinary competition dedicated to the development of Australia’s junior and apprentice chefs aged 23 years and under, is offering up and coming chefs a career changing, international culinary adventure of a lifetime.

This year’s National Winners will be given a golden opportunity travel experience, worth $15,000, to head to the 2008 World Culinary Olympics in Erfurt, Germany and watch the Australian Culinary Team in action.

Young chefs must enter as a team of two, nominating a team leader and an assistant. Team members must send in an original recipe each, using a minimum of two Nestlé products, plus photos of the prepared dishes, along with a written brief on each chef’s career aspirations for the next five years.

Teams will be selected from written entries and will be invited to compete at their Region’s Cook-off. Regional winners will compete in the National Cook-off in Melbourne later this year where they will be given a mystery box of ingredients to create an entrée, main and dessert course.

Competing in the Nestlé Golden Chef’s Hat Award gives young chefs exposure at a regional and national level and, according to one of last year’s winners, this competition is the best chance to show others and yourself what you are capable of. Entries for the 2008 Nestlé Golden Chef’s Hat Award close next Friday, May 9, 2008
