“Its not what you know, its who you know” and in my career I would certainly agree with that statement. So when I was introduced to Philip Norman’s hotel networking group by an Executive Chef in Asia, I didn’t expect to meet so many hoteliers around the world. As Swiss-Belhotel regional director of operations for the Middle East, it was Philip’s vision was to create a medium to share ideas, concepts, exchanging files, promote positions vacant and most important create a networking environment.
Recently when I spoke to Philip about the hotel network he commented “As hoteliers working in the customer service industry we know by nature how to go the extra mile for guests and provide premium customer service. So why not help others in the industry to provide better service for their guests.”
The idea that hoteliers can work in an online community has already shown the power of the network “No one will ever be able to copy other hotel’s service or operation, you can imitate, but you can not duplicate it. We have human factor in our business which will differ us from each other; furthermore, there are always different ways to do the right objective” Philip said.
How it works…
If you have something to share i.e like a Hotel Promotions Survey, or Housekeeping Checklist or F&B Standard Operation Procedures (SOP), or Human Resources file, simply send it to Philip who will distribute to over 2000 hoteliers around the world.
Alternatively when you need something for example you want to know what other hoteliers do when it comes to lost room key, or if you are planning a food festival or have a positions vancant, simply drop Philip an email, and you’ll be amazed from with the global response.
It’s all about help, support, and learning and Philip has already exposed me to a large number of real time operational problems in hotels and resorts. Recent emails have covered rebuilding hotels in Tsunami ravaged Asia, operational solutions to hotels in the Middle East, and human resource strategies for low self esteem in the workplace plus how to increase the gross operating profits and plenty of healthy menu ideas.
To join, simply drop Philip an e mail at philip.norman@gmail.com , tell him who you are, where you work and what you do. That’s it, then you will be automatically signed into Philip’s global hotel network.
