Starbucks Coffee Ideas

When do you know that a multi national has simply run out of ideas? When they start asking the general public how they can improve their business.

Recently at the annual general meeting of the coffee giant, the company launched “My Starbucks Idea” which they say will help “shape the future of Starbucks”. The My Starbucks Idea website is a bit like Digg, where someone posts something and if you agree with it you “Digg” or vote for it.

Unless you’re a shareholder are you really going to tell this multi billion dollar giant some cool idea that they can convert into more revenue? I just wouldn’t post an idea on there, but plenty of people already have.  I guess it’s really just a Web 2.0 customer comments webpage, that’s nothing flash.

I have one idea for Starbucks.

Stop using cheap robusta coffee beans and flash roasting them which destroys the aromatics of the coffee. That way you’ll produce a coffee that people actually want to drink!

Starbucks…Want a second idea? Significantly reduce the sugar (or artificial sweeteners) in your cold beverages, I’m sure its contributing to diabetes all over the world.

"Sorry, but you are wrong. Starbucks only uses 100% Arabica beans. I find it humorous that it has become just as popular to hate Starbucks as it is to love them. I do agree with you about the sugar though..."

"J.Parks you could have fooled me, the coffee at my local starbucks tastes like Robusta beans. Benjamin"
