Canadian Culinary Federation is the largest association of cooking professionals in Canada. There are over 30 chapters and membership is available to chefs at all levels from apprentice chefs to professional chefs. The Canadian Culinary Federation was founded in 1963 by five chefs and was called the Canadian Federation of Chefs de Cuisine from 1963 to 1982, when it became the Canadian Federation of Chefs & Cooks. In 2003 it became the Canadian Culinary Federation, a federally chartered, non-profit organization, whose goal is to unite chefs across Canada with a commitment to professional excellence. The Federation holds an annual meeting and regional mini-conventions.
On the website are membership forms, benefits of joining, and news from the Federation, including a blog by the President and a place for members to submit news and information. There is also information about cooking contests worldwide. The Canadian Culinary Federation participates in the IKA, the Internationale Kochkunst Ausstellung, also known as the International Culinary Olympics. The Canadian team has participated since 1972, and they have won numerous awards every year since. There are four other Canadian teams, including a youth team that competes in the Nordic Challenge. Also on the website is a link to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency which provides up-to-date news about food alerts that chefs should be aware of.
