Federation of Chefs of Scotland

Category: Chef Associations

Federation of Chefs of Scotland (FCS) was founded in 1994 in response to a call for  an Association of chefs that was entirely Scottish and not connected with the rest of Britain. The Federation is a member of WACS (World Association of Chefs Societies). In 2007, the Federation of Chefs of Scotland launched a quarterly newsletter called “Sizzle.” The FCS has hosted WACS competitions in Scotland and competed in numerous culinary competitions around the world. On the website is information about upcoming biennial international WACS congress meetings which are held in different locations each time. Under events are listings of programs such as golfing competitions for FCS members. There is a photograph of the Scottish Culinary Team which competes in the Culinary Olympics. Also on the webpage are photographs of some of the dishes.

There is a link to information about competitions which spells out guidelines for culinary contests, reasons for having competitions, and rules for judges and competitors. The Federation of Chefs of Scotland newsletter “Sizzle” is available on the website. The newsletter contains information about events, contests participated in by FCS members, personal news about members, and news about new restaurants. The “Tips” section provides practical advice and information about specific cooking topics such as preparing aspic. Membership forms for the Federation of Chefs of Scotland are also on the website. Membership is open to “anyone with an interest in good healthy Scottish food.” There are photographs of dishes that were presented in competitions and “Scot Hot,” a section about competitions, including the Junior Chefs division.
