The Hong Kong Chef’s Association (HKCA) was founded in 1991. Before that it was called Les Toques Blanche Hong Kong, but, though not true, it had a reputation for being an association for ex-pat chefs only. Today, under its new name, it has about 250 members including chefs, food scientists, food technologists, distributors, and other food related specialists, and another 2500 non-paying people with an interest in the organization.

The Hong Kong Chef’s Association provides its members with a forum for professional advancement, educational development, and an exchange of information. It publishes a regular newsletter. Hong Kong Chef’s Association sponsors contests, food festivals, social, and educational events. The Hong Kong Chef’s Association is a non-profit, apolitical organization and affiliated with WACS (The World Association of Chefs Societies).

The Hong Kong Chef’s Association website contains a list of the committee members for the organization, their individual responsibilities for Hong Kong Chef’s Association, and email contacts for them. Also on the website is information about membership and an online form. The site contains information about educational organizations and certifications. Users can find information about cooking competitions both in Hong Kong and internationally, and news and events including factory tours. The online newsletter is also available under “news and events.” The Hong Kong Chef’s Association also lists world-wide recruitment advertisements for chefs who specialize in both Chinese and other cuisines.
