New Zealand Chef Association was founded in 1957 and is a member of WACS (World Association of Chefs Societies). A member of NZCA is elected to represent New Zealand at WACS meetings. The Association encourages and fosters interest in the culinary arts and works to promote the interests of chefs in New Zealand. The New Zealand Chef Association sponsors lectures, catering exhibitions, and cooking competitions.
New Zealand Chef Association also hosted international meetings of WACS. Members of the New Zealand Chef Association are not just chefs, but also others who are involved in the culinary and hospitality industries. Member benefits and joining information can be found on the website. These benefits include Plate, a monthly newsletter and invitations to NZCA events. In the “news” section of the website is not only information about cooking competitions that have been won by New Zealand members but also personal news about individual members, such as new babies and new books. This is where members can find out about upcoming events as well.
The “resources” section includes information about New Zealand Chef Association publications such as New Zealand on a Plate, with recipes from NZCA members. The book can be ordered from this site as well as clothing such as caps and T-Shirts with the New Zealand Chef Association insignia printed on them.
