The Welsh Culinary Association was formed in 1993 to promote excellence in the art of professional cookery in Wales. The Association supports both senior and junior culinary teams in competitions around the world. The membership of over 200 includes chefs, culinary school instructors, and hospitality suppliers. The Welsh Culinary Association became a member of WACS (World Association of Chefs Societies) in 2002, which meant that Wales could compete in international competitions on its own instead of as a member of the British team. On the website are names and photographs of the Association Officers, a calendar of Association events including Board meetings and meetings of local chapters, and information about culinary competitions including the annual Welsh International Culinary Championships.
The Welsh Culinary Association competes in the International Culinary Olympics. The news section provides news of not only the Association as a whole, but also of the Junior Chefs of Wales. On the Achievements site is information about efforts that the Association has undertaken in areas of culinary education and the efforts to expand the use of local ingredients. There is also a section of photographs of both specific dishes and of members of the Association at various events. The Links section provides links to an impressive number of sponsors of the Welsh Culinary Association and an invitation to help sponsor the Association Teams.
